About

Vp Madrono

Vp Madrono operates as a reliable 3-star in Madrid's upscale Salamanca neighbourhood. It occupies a hushed street, with 174 rooms spread over several floors. The public areas are modest but spotless, and the staff are repeatedly praised for their professionalism and warmth. The hotel also has a small garden area and a business centre for guests who need to mix work with leisure.

Rooms are the main draw: they come in twins, doubles and triples, many with balconies or garden views. Every room includes a mini kitchenette with a coffee machine and cookware, a real bonus in a city where eating out is tempting. The beds are consistently described as comfortable, and the soundproofing keeps the street noise to a minimum. Families and business travellers alike find the setup practical.

In brief

What works, what to weigh

+

Strengths

4 reasons to book
  • Superb location for exploring Madrid — Diego de Leon metro is about a two-minute walk, and the area is packed with bars and restaurants, even on public holidays. Retiro Park is roughly 3 km away.
  • Quiet, well-insulated rooms — Guests repeatedly mention how silent the rooms are, even those facing the street, thanks to soundproofing and a calm neighbourhood.
  • Practical in-room kitchenettes — Each room has a mini kitchen with a coffee machine, cookware and utensils, making self-catering easy.
  • Excellent value for money — At roughly GBP 604 per night, guests consistently say they get more than they paid for, citing comfort, cleanliness and service.

Worth weighing

4 to weigh
  • Mixed room condition — Some rooms are renovated, others are older but still well-maintained. If you're sensitive to décor, ask for a newer room at check-in.
  • Uninspiring street views — Rooms facing the street don't offer much to look at – guests note the views are not impressive, though the noise is well controlled.
  • Fridge doesn't get very cold — One guest warned that the mini-fridge doesn't chill food adequately, so don't rely on it for perishables like meat.
  • Service and price rated lower than location — The 'Price and service' category scores 6/10, suggesting that some guests feel the service level or value isn't as strong as the location.

“Rooms were well-appointed and comfortable for a business trip. The location was convenient, about 3 km from a large 19th-century park, and the area was quiet and pleasant.”

9Verified guest

“Location was very good – close to the VP El Madrono and the metro, with plenty of bars within walking distance. The room was large and silent, the bathroom and shower were excellent, and the service was good.”

9Verified guest

“The rooms include a small kitchenette, which was a handy addition.”

“We had no complaints about the accommodation. The bathroom had everything we needed, the double bed was very comfortable, the lighting was great, the sofa was comfortable, and the kitchen area was well equipped with all the necessary cutlery and dishes – though there was no knife, loofah, or dishwasher. We didn't mind because our dishes were washed daily. The views from our room faced a street and weren't impressive, but the location was fantastic, the staff wonderful, and the facilities very clean. They also held our luggage for us until we returned to collect it. My personal tip: don't keep meat in the fridge for a couple of days because it doesn't get cold enough and you might get sick, as we did. We were delighted with the hotel and staff and would certainly stay again.”

“The staff were especially friendly and the room was big. For the price, I got what I paid for – a nice hotel I'd recommend. No worries about food, as there are plenty of restaurants around even on public holidays.”
